Girls have been focusing more and more on their image and how boys look at them due to the fact that magazines and TV shows have put them as these sex symbols. We feel we have to look good and wear name brand clothing. Its ridiculous that us girls feel this way at all because it is not true that we should look a certain way based off what society says.
My 13 year old sister is a perfect example. She worries all the time about if this shirt makes her look fat or does these shorts show my butt enough (which im sure that any pair of shorts would show it just fine) It makes me sad that she would even ask me things like that. The other day she even told me that for Halloween her and her friends are going to dress as sluts. Of course i told her that there would be no way in hell she is going to be any such thing.
To me a shirt is a shirt, regardless of what brand it is. I really hope that by me not caring about my personal image it will rub off onto my sister as well. I dont want her to be one of those girls who has to fix their make up every 15 minutes in class, worries if a guy likes her or not because she isnt pretty enough because i tell her every day that a guy who is worth her time will like her for who she is not what she is trying to be...
Girls in society today do NOT need to have this pressure on them. It is pressed into their minds from day 1. Girls i am here to tell you, just be yourself. Who cares what others think of you? Just. Be. You.
